Who are the Wine Wanderers?

28 Aug

We are a pair of grape aficionadoes who have been feeding our passion for years while operating as food and travel writers.   Our interest in following specific growers and regions has taken us to Australia for the Wine Spectator, Israel for World of Fine Wine, Italy and Spain for Food And Travel and the vineyards of southern France for The Independent.  We have also sojourned and supped our way around Argentina, Chile, Portugal, Greece and other wine-producing countries whose best makers are under-represented in the UK.

We are untutored enthusiasts who prefer to taste wine with food and try to fight prejudices again certain varietals formed while drinking badly-made cheap wine during our years in California.   We love discovering lesser-known grapes and new wine-making styles, but also appreciate old world greats when we manage to hit the right vintages.    We shop mostly in supermarkets for our daily drop, but hugely respect the  expertise and breadth of offering specialist wine merchants bring to the party, and taste their wares whenever we get the chance.
